As I was perusing the vintage bikes listed on ebay a few days ago, one particular mixte frame bike stopped my scrolling mouse dead in its tracks:
It immediately brought to mind the beautiful Rivendell bike named Betty Foy, which is one of the finalists in Dottie’s search for her next bike:

WOW, that is a beauty!!!! Six more days left on the auction. I don't know how to figure out the sizing, though. I need a bike that fits perfectly. Would a bike from the 50's be dependable enough to ride every day and for long distances, or is it more of a show piece? I don't know enough about bikes to answer these questions. I am verrry close to buying the Betty Foy, but this is intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you love to see a French woman riding this in the 1950s? I wonder what a woman wore to go touring back then? Something sporty but elegant like the bike, I guess.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting thought, Lynn. I would love to see that, now that you mention it!
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: The lovely Louvet on ebay sold for $1,178.99 today.
